Install MySQL server on CentOS 7

Install MySQL community package:

yum install https://dev.mysql.com/get/mysql80-community-release-el7-1.noarch.rpm

Instal the server:

yum install mysql-community-server

Disable foreign connections and X Plugin by adding to /etc/my.cnf:

bind-address=127.0.0.1
mysqlx=0

If you're using PHP then also install PHP client:

yum install php-mysql

Start MySQL server:

service mysqld start

You will find MySQL temporary root password in MySQL log file which is located at /var/log/mysqld.log
